Stephen Dynia established his firm in 1993 in Jackson, Wyoming, after working in the design department of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in New York in the 1980s and early 90s. The abrupt change of environment was motivated by the desire to explore architecture in a natural environment. A dozen years of molding the raw elements of site, program, structure and materials into architecture that investigates space, form, light and texture has resulted in a body of work that is respectful of context and inspired by invention.
Stephen grew up in New Haven, Connecticut, and received a degree in architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Stephen’s work has received numerous awards, including Western Mountain Region and Wyoming Chapter AIA design awards. Current projects include a performing art center, several housing projects and private residences in the western mountain region and elsewhere.
